About The Position

Blue Chip Pros is hiring a General Cleaner to perform cleaning activities at the assigned Macy’s facility in University Heights. The cleaner maintains assigned areas in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition and performs other tasks related to the assignment. Duties include cleaning rooms, bathrooms, floors, grounds, public common areas, and food court spaces; sanitizing surfaces; removing trash; and checking completed work. The role also involves courteous customer service, following safe work practices and chemical instructions, and reporting issues or incomplete assignments to a supervisor. Other duties may be assigned by a supervisor or Account Manager, including floor stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor scrubbing and buffing.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic janitorial work, methods, materials, and equipment.
Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
Knowledge of using toxic and non-toxic chemicals in accordance with MSDS sheets.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, including cleaning-chemical warning labels.
Ability to communicate sufficiently with coworkers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to maintain the physical condition necessary to perform assigned duties, including extended walking, standing, or sitting; equipment operation; lifting and carrying 1–30 pounds; pushing and pulling with 5–35 pounds of force; climbing stairs and ladders; bending, twisting, balancing, kneeling, crouching, and crawling; and reaching, handling, grasping, and fingering, including overhead reaching throughout the shift.
Ability to use sight, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination to perform cleaning tasks and operate equipment safely.

Responsibilities

High-dust surfaces above shoulder height, including lights, vents, curtain tips, and ledges.
Sanitize surfaces below shoulder height and spot-clean fingerprints, smudges, and windows using appropriate solutions.
Clean bathrooms, including sinks and toilets, and check and refill soap and paper dispensers as needed.
Empty trash cans, wipe them when needed, and replace liners.
Dust mop or vacuum floors, including under furniture, and clean and sanitize floors.
Clean and check outside areas, including ash urns, trash cans, sidewalks, flower beds, curb lines, parking lots, benches, vending machines, window ledges, and public-area glass; remove gum and spot-clean spills.
Dust mop and spot mop public hallways, clean glass, clean planters, and perform high dusting and cobweb checks in window areas.
Clean and sanitize food court tables, spot-clean spills, empty trash, wash and stack trays, and police outside eating areas.
Inspect completed rooms, review cleaning steps, and correct furniture placement or other issues as needed.
Clean halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, and furniture, and perform wall spotting and high dusting daily.
Knock before entering occupied rooms; provide courteous and helpful customer service or direct questions to someone who can assist.
Report broken or out-of-order items to a supervisor and report incomplete assignments at the end of a shift.
Work quietly, remain in the assigned area unless directed otherwise, and maintain a clean and neat personal appearance.
Perform other duties as assigned, potentially including floor stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor scrubbing and buffing.
