About The Position

Blue Chip Pros is hiring a General Cleaner to perform a variety of cleaning activities at Macy's Galleria Houston at Hidalgo. The position is responsible for keeping assigned facilities clean, sanitary, and orderly, and completing other tasks related to the assigned area. The cleaner performs routine janitorial work throughout rooms, restrooms, floors, grounds, public common areas, and the food court. Duties include high dusting, sanitizing and spot cleaning surfaces, cleaning bathrooms, emptying trash, dust mopping or vacuuming, sanitizing floors, and checking completed work. Grounds and public areas are to be checked and cleaned several times during the day; specified hallway, lobby, stair, fountain, and furniture cleaning tasks are performed daily. Window-area high dusting in public common areas is performed at least twice per week. The role also involves courteous customer service, quiet and professional conduct, reporting broken or out-of-order items to a supervisor, and remaining in the assigned work area unless directed otherwise. Other duties may be assigned by a supervisor or Account Manager, including floor care such as stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and auto scrubbing and buffing.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic janitorial work, methods, materials, and equipment.
Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals, including following MSDS sheets and interpreting cleaning-chemical instructions and warning labels.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to communicate sufficiently with coworkers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to maintain the physical condition needed to perform assigned duties, including extended walking, standing, or sitting; operating equipment; lifting and carrying 1–30 pounds; pushing or pulling with 5–35 pounds of force; climbing stairs and ladders; bending, twisting, balancing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching overhead, and handling and grasping tools and equipment.
Sight, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination sufficient to perform cleaning tasks, operate equipment, and maintain safety standards.

Responsibilities

Perform high dusting of surfaces above shoulder height, including lights, vents, ledges, and curtain tips.
Sanitize surfaces below shoulder height and spot clean fingerprints, smudges, and windows using appropriate cleaning solutions.
Clean bathrooms, including sinks and toilets; check and refill soap and paper dispensers as needed.
Empty trash cans, replace liners, and wipe cans when they contain liquid.
Dust mop or vacuum floors, including underneath furniture, and dispose of collected dust appropriately.
Clean and check outside areas several times during the day, including ash urns, trash cans, sidewalks, flower beds, curb lines, parking lots, benches, vending machines, and window ledges; remove spills, gum, trash, and cigarette butts as needed.
Dust mop and spot mop main hallways; clean public-area glass several times during the day and maintain planters and window areas.
Clean and sanitize food-court tables, spot clean spills, return chairs to their places, empty trash, clean trays with the tray power washer, and police outside eating areas.
Sanitize floors, mopping under furniture and behind doors while working toward the exit.
Inspect completed rooms, review cleaning steps, check furniture placement, and make corrections as needed.
Clean halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, and furniture; perform wall spotting and high dusting daily.
Knock before entering an occupied room, assist customers courteously or refer them to someone who can help, and work quietly.
Report broken or out-of-order items to a supervisor and report unfinished assignments at the end of the shift.
Maintain a clean and neat personal appearance and stay in the assigned work area unless directed elsewhere by a supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned or directed, potentially including floor stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor auto scrubbing and buffing.
