About The Position

A full-time academic faculty position in the Department of Anesthesiology at the only academic medical center on the Alabama Gulf Coast, located in Mobile, Alabama. Academic rank and appointment track will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Faculty practice across multiple hospitals, including a Level I Trauma Center and a Children's & Women's Hospital, working with experienced surgeons and multidisciplinary teams. The health system offers regional referral services and an ECMO program. Anesthesiologists supervise in a care team model with CRNAs and residents. Teaching is central to the role, which also offers opportunities to help develop a new Anesthesiology Residency Program and shape the department's academic priorities and culture.

Requirements

MD or DO degree.
Board certification or board eligibility by the ABA or AOBA.
Eligibility for Alabama medical licensure.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive anesthesia services for surgical, obstetrical, and other medical procedures.
Evaluate patients preoperatively, administer anesthetics and sedation, and monitor patients through procedures and recovery.
Supervise and teach residents, medical students, and CRNAs.
Provide airway management and life support during emergencies.
Participate in shared departmental call.
Contribute to scholarly activity, research, and quality improvement.
