About The Position

McCoy Global is seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Gear Shaper Set-Up/Operator for its manufacturing team. The role involves setting up and operating manual gear-shaping machines to manufacture gears and splined components to blueprint specifications. The successful candidate will apply knowledge of gear types, gear-cutting processes, and precision machining techniques while supporting product quality, productivity, equipment reliability, and a safe, efficient work environment.

Requirements

3–6 years of direct hands-on experience with Fellows and Coppinger 3A Gear Shapers.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and cut dies to specification.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to work comfortably in a team environment.
Detail-oriented.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines, multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
Product knowledge and understanding of how products are used.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with a variety of stakeholders.
Desire to foster a safety-conscious environment and ability to read and follow safety policies.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate Fellows and Coppinger gear shapers without supervision; change cutting tools, machine gearing, and adjust machine feeds and speeds as needed.
Resolve problems by making decisions to correct constraints.
Operate the Do-All Saw/Stamper while gear shapers are running; training will be provided.
Identify root causes of quality problems and determine corrective actions.
Use industry measuring equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges, to complete work.
Inspect parts and products using prescribed procedures to ensure compliance with blueprints and specifications and prevent defects, scrap, and rework; ensure parts meet McCoy quality requirements.
Maintain equipment and the designated work area in a clean and orderly condition daily, and report defective equipment, materials, or faulty operations to a supervisor.
Identify and implement process improvements and opportunities to increase efficiency.
Perform other duties as assigned.
