KRAFTON Montréal StudioMontreal, QC

About The Position

About Krafton Montreal: We are a leading game development studio composed of veterans of the game industry. We are working on a game based on an acclaimed intellectual property set in an enthralling medieval fantasy world. This game is an AAA third-person action-adventure RPG experience, with a rich narrative and strategic gameplay. At our company, we believe in having fun while creating memorable experiences, being proud of our work, and showing respect for each other's contributions. Job Description: We are already starting our second project. Our goal is clear: to build a small, elite team, fast, focused, and accountable, to design, develop, and ship a great game. All of this backed by a company with the resources and track record to bring ambitious projects to life. To lead this initiative, we are looking for a Game Director with a unique profile. This role requires someone who has already proven themselves, whether as a Game Director or in any other relevant capacity. What matters is not the title, but the depth of understanding, the ability to execute, and the impact you’ve had. This is a hands-on role. You are expected to understand games from multiple angles: design, technology, and production. To be comfortable working directly in the editor, while maintaining a clear view of scope, priorities, and delivery. To make decisions quickly, take ownership, and lead from the front. You set the pace. You raise the standard. You move the team forward through action. At its core, what matters is simple: ownership, ambition, and the drive to build something exceptional. You will report directly to the Head of Studio, with a high level of autonomy and clear accountability. This is a rare opportunity to build something that stands out, with a small team that fully owns what they create.

Requirements

  • MUST BE LEGALLY ABLE TO WORK IN CANADA AND BE BASED IN THE PROVINCE OF QUEBEC
  • Strong ownership mindset with a bias for action and results.
  • Proven ability to deliver impactful work in game development, through shipped titles or equivalent contributions.
  • Ability to operate across disciplines with a solid understanding of design, technology, and production.
  • Comfortable working directly in Unreal Engine 5 in a hands-on capacity.
  • Strong understanding of game feel, player experience, and systems design.
  • Clear understanding of production realities, scope, and trade-offs.
  • Strong awareness of business impact and what drives a game’s success.
  • Ability to operate with high autonomy and minimal structure.
  • Comfortable making decisions with incomplete information.
  • Curious and pragmatic about modern development tools, including AI.
  • Able to operate effectively in a primarily French-speaking environment

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the game as a whole, from vision to final playable experience.
  • Translate ambition into clear, cohesive, and high-quality execution across all aspects of the game.
  • Work hands-on daily in Unreal Engine 5 (Blueprints and or C++) to build, prototype, and iterate.
  • Drive direction through decisions and execution.
  • Make fast, informed trade-offs across design, technology, scope, and production.
  • Identify risks early and solve problems before they scale or slow down the team.
  • Define and embody a lean, efficient, and highly accountable development culture.
  • Lead a small team by example, raising the bar through direct contribution.
  • Collaborate closely with the team to ensure strong alignment and momentum across the product.
  • Leverage modern tools and workflows, including AI, to accelerate iteration and improve output.

Benefits

  • Being truly hybrid: meaning you choose if you work remotely all the time (in the province of Quebec), if you wish to come to the studio a couple of days or all the time;
  • Generous RRSP employer contributions;
  • Health, dental & wellness coverage including telemedicine;
  • Personal & wellness days;
  • OPUS subsidy.
