About The Position

VML is seeking an Associate Creative Director, Art Direction (and their partner Associate Creative Director, Copywriting) to do the best work of their career and make a significant impact. In this role, you will shape the visual and conceptual vision for high-level campaigns, translating strategic insights into compelling designs and art direction. You will elevate the agency's conceptual craft, build trusted client relationships, and ensure our visual narratives resonate authentically with audiences and drive measurable business results.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience as an Art Director/Creative Lead in an agency or similar environment with a proven track record of directing high-level campaigns.
  • An exceptional portfolio showcasing conceptual thinking, strategic problem-solving, and beautiful copy across traditional and digital platforms.
  • Deep expertise in visual storytelling, design principles, typography, and adapting visual systems for different brands and audiences.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma) and a strong understanding of emerging digital technologies and social media trends.
  • Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, concisely, and persuasively to senior clients.
  • Mature and reasoned approach to internal and client feedback, leveraging it collaboratively to advance the work.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment requiring the management of multiple projects simultaneously without sacrificing quality.

Responsibilities

  • Translate strategic direction into award-winning visual concepts and campaigns across mediums including broadcast, online video, digital, and owned properties.
  • Work seamlessly with an Associate Creative Director, Copywriting (and cross-functionally with Strategy and Account leads) to develop, refine, and elevate cohesive creative concepts.
  • Lead the creation of elements from a visual perspective, overseeing art direction, design, photography, illustration, and video shoots.
  • Champion clients’ voice, tone, and strategic objectives, ensuring all creative drives measurable business effect and resonates authentically with audiences.
  • Collaborate closely with production, technology, and account teams to seamlessly manage the creation and delivery of online and offline elements.
  • Present visual narratives and design concepts with confidence during client presentations and build trusted relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and continuous innovation by leading by example through the quality of your work and your approach to problem-solving.
