Game Day Lead (Atlanta)

Brodie Rec League•Chamblee, GA
•$22 - $28•Onsite

About The Position

The Game Day Lead owns game-night floor operations so the League Manager can focus on relationships with captains, players, and fans. The Lead oversees gym setup and breakdown, staffing, court streams, check-in, and on-time game starts, ensuring work meets the Brodie Standard. They teach and coach staff, verify that tasks are completed, and address operational problems through the crew rather than routinely taking over tasks themselves. When the League Manager is off-site, the Game Day Lead is in charge of league-night operations and the crew. This includes connecting with drop-in athletes, supporting their experience, and converting them to league-night athletes. The role reports to the League Manager and is described as a direct path to that position. It is permanent, part-time work at the Atlanta location, with game-night availability roughly 6 p.m. to midnight, including weekends, and on-site for the full night.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience leading or supervising people in events, hospitality, retail, fitness, or sports operations, such as as a shift lead, supervisor, or head coach.
  • Experience teaching someone a task and holding them accountable for it.
  • Knowledge of how to upsell or ask for a sale.
  • Comfort setting up technology such as cameras, laptops, Wi-Fi, and streaming apps, and troubleshooting before seeking help.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and correct people directly without making it personal.
  • Availability for every game night at the location, roughly 6 p.m. to midnight, including weekends, and ability to be on site for the full night.
  • A relationship with basketball through playing, coaching, refereeing, or organizing.
  • Reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Set up the gym with the crew according to the site map, assign tasks to named staff, check the setup checklist, and sign off before the Launch Meeting.
  • Manage breakdown, including counting equipment, packing fixtures, and leaving the gym as required by the venue.
  • Ensure BallerTV is set up and streaming on every court before the first game, monitor streams during the night, coordinate troubleshooting and restoration, and log stream issues.
  • Teach Game Day Operators to set up and troubleshoot streams.
  • Assign roles and rotations for Game Day Operators, Referees, Athlete Highlight Specialists, and media staff; redeploy staff when games are forfeited or staff do not show up.
  • Keep check-in staffed and moving, address overdue balances before athletes play, and escalate issues that are not easily resolved to the League Manager.
  • Keep games starting on time and notify the League Manager in advance if a game is expected to start late.
  • Take charge of league-night operations and the crew when the League Manager is off-site; make forfeit calls, send idle staff home when appropriate, and document recurring performance issues for the League Manager.
  • Train and coach staff by demonstrating tasks, observing staff perform them, checking their work, maintaining standards, giving specific nightly feedback, and running shadow shifts for new crew.
  • Address staff mistakes and performance issues in the moment, coaching after a repeated mistake and documenting and escalating after a third occurrence.
  • Complete scoresheets and photo verification and deliver them to the League Manager so reporting is completed within four hours of the final game.
  • Verify staff hours against who actually worked and send an end-of-night crew report covering performance, issues, and fixes.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for operational questions from crew and venue staff; settle crew disputes when possible and escalate disputes that cannot be settled, injuries, venue conflicts, and captain complaints to the League Manager.
  • Connect with drop-in athletes, ensure they have a positive experience, and convert them to league-night athletes when the League Manager is off-site.
