Furniture Delivery Driver
About The Position
American Furniture Rental is hiring a full-time Furniture Delivery Driver / Installer for local routes based in Pennsauken, New Jersey. The position involves operating a 26-foot box truck and delivering, installing, and picking up furniture for residential, commercial, event, and trade show customers. Drivers are home daily. The role also includes leading a helper, providing professional customer service, protecting products, completing paperwork and vehicle inspections, and assisting with warehouse, shipping, receiving, and product handling as needed. The schedule is primarily Monday through Friday, with occasional night and weekend work based on business needs. The average schedule is approximately 45 hours per week; during peak seasons, hours may increase, with some weeks reaching up to 70 hours. The pay range is $23.00–$25.00 per hour, based on experience.
Requirements
- Prior experience driving a 26-foot box truck.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Ability to pass pre-employment and DOT drug screening.
- Ability to pass DOT physical requirements.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, climb stairs, bend, push, pull, and stay active throughout the day.
- Basic tool knowledge, including cordless drills, screwdrivers, and hand tools.
- Professional attitude and strong customer service skills.
Nice To Haves
- Prior furniture delivery, moving, installation, appliance delivery, or final-mile delivery experience is strongly preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a 26-foot box truck in compliance with company and DOT requirements.
- Deliver, install, and pick up furniture according to paperwork, floorplans, and customer instructions.
- Load, secure, protect, and unload furniture properly.
- Keep the truck organized and protect products during transport.
- Complete required paperwork accurately.
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Communicate professionally with customers and internal teams.
- Lead and direct helpers while on the road.
- Assist with warehouse, shipping, receiving, and product handling as needed.
