About The Position

Provide prompt, efficient, courteous service to guests. Duties include greeting and seating guests, discussing and serving orders, handling guest remittance as required, clearing dishes, and resetting tables. The server works to deliver a high-quality guest experience while following IHOP service guidelines, standard operating procedures, and applicable health and safety practices. This is an hourly restaurant position in a fast-paced, energetic environment with opportunities to develop teamwork skills and grow professionally.

Requirements

Prior experience or training is desired but may not be required.
Read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; and read and speak English well enough to understand guest checks, read instructions, and communicate with guests.
Perform basic arithmetic using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Use common-sense reasoning to follow written, oral, and diagrammed instructions and address problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
Complete IHOP training coursework as assigned.
Meet the physical demands of the role, including frequent standing, walking, reaching, handling objects, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, and communicating and remaining aware of surroundings; occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain professional working relationships with IHOP employees and guests.
Follow IHOP Service Guidelines and SOPs to provide a high-quality guest experience.
Handle guest complaints professionally, courteously, and promptly; thank guests and invite them to return.
Learn and apply IHOP terminology, abbreviations, methodologies, plating practices, and menu knowledge.
Follow SOP methods for guest checks and server banking procedures.
Stock and rotate supplies in assigned service areas and the dining room.
Follow local and SOP health, sanitation, and safety guidelines.
Clear, clean, and reset tables; clean chairs, booths, and floors after guests leave.
Perform cleaning duties according to posted cleaning charts.
Follow IHOP uniform and appearance standards.
Perform other tasks assigned by the General Manager, Assistant Manager, or acting supervisor.
Comply with the IHOP N Go program as assigned.
