About The Position

The Front End Associate helps ensure customer satisfaction by providing fast, friendly, and accurate checkout service. As someone customers may encounter at the beginning and end of their shopping experience, the associate operates point-of-sale equipment, manages a cash drawer, bags groceries, and performs other store and customer-service duties. Responsibilities may vary by assignment.

The position is performed in a fast-paced retail environment and may involve exposure to varying outdoor weather and indoor conditions, including changes in temperature, dust, and humidity. The role requires continuous standing or walking and occasional lifting, reaching, bending, climbing, or crawling.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 16 years.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Frequently move, lift, and carry merchandise and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds without assistance.
• Occasionally move, lift, and carry merchandise and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Occasionally reach overhead and below the knees; push, pull, squat, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, and twist, with or without bearing weight.
• Occasionally climb and/or crawl.
• Stand or walk continuously throughout the shift.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in a retail or grocery environment is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide outstanding customer service.
• Operate point-of-sale equipment.
• Take responsibility for a cash drawer during the shift.
• Bag groceries and load them carefully and neatly into customers’ vehicles.
• Stock shelves and rotate items as necessary.
• Bring carts in from the parking lot.
• Maintain a neat and organized till.
• Fill bag stations and stock registers with needed supplies.
• Pick up trash from the parking lot.
• Follow security procedures.
• Perform night maintenance duties as directed.
• Follow company policy and local and state law regarding the sale of alcohol and tobacco products.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.
