The company is seeking a Full-Time Front Desk/Medical Assistant for its Winter Haven, FL location. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • One-year experience in healthcare, medical staff services preferred.
  • Availability to work late hours two days per week (until 7:00 PM)
  • Proficient oral and written communications.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
  • Positive interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Medical terminology knowledge essential.
  • Effectively uses Electronic Health Records.
  • Knowledge of CPT & ICD-10 Coding procedures.
  • Knowledge of medication procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Assisting certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and explain services, payment categories, and billing procedures.
  • Schedule appointments and manage walk-in patients and emergencies.
  • Answer and route incoming calls.
  • Register patients and collect necessary documentation.
  • Generate and ensure completion of required patient documents.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and compute patient charges.
  • Collect deposits, co-pays, and deductibles.
  • Inform patients of outstanding balances and collect payments.
  • Collaborate with Provider and Medical Assistant staff to ensure smooth patient flow and minimize waiting times.
  • Call and remind patients of appointments.
  • Follow up on 'no show' patients daily.
  • Communicate patient problems or complaints to the clinic manager.
  • Refer patients who missed appointments to the clinic manager for follow-up.
  • Perform duties in a prioritized, organized, and orderly manner.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure a positive client experience.
  • Follow instructions and complete assigned job duties.
  • Ensure medication history is accurate when taking vitals.
  • Perform genetic testing, educate patients, submit tests, and follow up on results.
  • Welcome clients, show them to examination rooms, and prepare them for the physician.
  • Perform medical assessments such as blood pressure, height, and weight.
  • Provide appropriate and timely documentation.
  • Take medical histories.
  • Assist physicians and nurses with direct client care, filing, chart documentation, faxes, prescription programs, and telephone follow-up.
  • Maintain, copy, and file patient records.
  • Monitor voicemails, return calls, and resolve issues within 24 hours.
  • Triage patient phone calls and document interactions within 24 hours.
  • Review and respond to Athena messages and inbox items.
  • Discuss patient concerns with the respective provider within 24 hours and document appropriately.
  • Take medication orders from psychiatrists/APRNs/PAs and phone them to pharmacies, documenting and confirming with clients within 24 hours.
  • Prepare medication refill requests within 24 hours.
  • Verify pharmacy information, last visit, last fill, insurance, and pickup/mail details.
  • Handle prior authorizations within 24 hours of receiving requests.
  • Update patient charts with medication and related information.
  • Provide guidance and education to patients on prescribed medications.
  • Provide information for the after-hours call line and document this interaction.
