About The Position

A Freight Forwarder, Ocean Export manages the exportation of goods by ocean and the related logistics process, including carrier booking, cargo tracking, documentation, and communication with customers and third-party service providers. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication to manage customer relationships and ensure satisfaction. The position is based in Iselin, New Jersey, in DSV’s Air & Sea division.

Requirements

• Prior experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience in ocean exports is highly desirable.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including calculating costs and rates.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of ocean freight logistics and customs regulations.
• Understanding of trade laws and regulations.
• Fluency in English is required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of additional languages.
• Experience with logistics software and systems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate ocean export shipments, including carrier bookings and movement of goods through transportation channels.
• Prepare and process customs-clearance documents, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading.
• Track and monitor shipments and provide customers with regular status updates.
• Manage customer relationships, respond to concerns, and address issues that arise.
• Collaborate with logistics, finance, operations, and other internal departments to provide timely, efficient service.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and laws, including customs regulations and trade laws.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
