About The Position

In this vital position, you'll serve as the link between shippers and carriers, ensuring that freight moves efficiently and profitably. You will negotiate rates, book loads, and manage logistics to meet customer expectations while optimizing costs. This role requires strong relationship-building, negotiation, and problem-solving skills to rapidly adjust to challenges and maximize opportunities. Success in this position comes from balancing customer service, carrier partnerships, and revenue growth.

Requirements

• Excellent verbal and written skills to collaborate with shippers, carriers, and internal teams.
• Ability to secure favorable rates and resolve conflicts to drive profitability.
• Strong ability to grow and maintain a book of business through proactive outreach and client engagement.
• Resourcefulness in managing unexpected issues and adapting to changing freight conditions.
• Demonstrable ability to work within a team environment with limited supervision while driving results.
• Capable of balancing multiple shipments, carriers, and clients simultaneously.
• Proficiency with transportation management systems (TMS), load boards, and Microsoft Office tools.
• An Associate’s degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field, and at least one (1) year of experience in freight brokering, dispatching, or transportation logistics. Equivalent experience without a degree will also be considered.
• Familiarity with freight markets, modes, and transportation regulations.
• Proven track record of booking loads and managing carrier relationships.
• Ability to ensure adherence to FMCSA and DOT guidelines.

Nice To Haves

• Two (2) - three (3) years of successful freight brokering or logistics sales experience, preferably within flatbed trucking.
• Existing relationships with a strong base of carriers.
• Demonstrated ability to consistently grow a client portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong relationships with shippers, providing excellent service and accurate information about shipment status.
• Source, onboard, and manage carriers to ensure dependable transportation solutions.
• Negotiate competitive rates with carriers and optimize margins while maintaining service quality.
• Post, book, and track freight loads from start to finish, ensuring timely delivery.
• Prepare and process all necessary shipping documents, contracts, and invoices accurately.
• Resolve transportation issues quickly, such as delays, equipment shortages, or customer concerns.
