Freezer and Dairy Clerk Full Time
About The Position
The Dairy & Freezer Clerk maintains the dairy and freezer sections by ensuring proper stocking, rotation, and product integrity. The role supports merchandising, inventory management, and food safety compliance while providing excellent service to Members. It contributes to an organized and efficient department and the overall success of the perishables team. The clerk works to uphold BJ’s service and club standards, respond to Member needs, support club goals, and complete tasks accurately and efficiently. Duties also include maintaining regular, predictable, full attendance and providing additional support across departments as needed.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age.
- Basic knowledge of cold chain management, food safety standards, and product handling requirements.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and multitasking skills.
- Frequent standing and movement on hard surfaces; regular lifting of up to 50 pounds and occasional heavier lifting with assistance.
- Ability to work around temperature variations in refrigerated and freezer storage areas and potential exposure to cleaning agents and frozen/dairy-related allergens.
Nice To Haves
- At least 1 year of experience in dairy, freezer, grocery, or retail operations.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, and email.
Responsibilities
- Stock dairy and freezer products according to company planograms.
- Monitor temperature control and replenish low or missing items to support cold chain integrity, freshness, and availability.
- Rotate products using FIFO procedures to reduce waste and maintain product quality.
- Inspect products for expiration dates and condition, removing damaged or outdated items.
- Follow food safety and sanitation standards, including routine cleaning of coolers, freezers, equipment, and shelving.
- Monitor in-stock levels and assist with replenishment to keep the department full and shoppable.
- Verify product signage and pricing for accuracy.
- Assist with seasonal transitions and merchandising plans.
- Follow company policies and procedures for dairy and freezer operations.
- Perform other duties and provide support across departments as assigned.
- Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
- Deliver daily service standards, engage with Members helpfully, and address questions or concerns, escalating unresolved issues to a supervisor when necessary.
- Contribute to team engagement, club standards, operational goals, and financial performance through consistent, efficient work.
