Forward Deployment Engineer- Greater NYC
About The Position
SingleStore is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to work at the intersection of solution architecture, technical delivery, and customer partnership. The role combines aspects of a solutions architect, technical account manager, and solution engineer, with a strong emphasis on execution. The engineer will serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers, helping them design, implement, and scale real-time data solutions using SingleStore. They will understand customers’ business objectives, translate them into technical strategies, and drive those solutions into production. The role calls for technical depth, a delivery mindset, and the ability to lead strategic conversations as well as hands-on work. This is a customer-facing role. SingleStore prefers candidates based in the NYC area or within commuting distance. The company describes itself as a provider of a cloud-native distributed SQL database that unifies transactions and analytics to power data-intensive applications. SingleStore is venture-backed and headquartered in San Francisco, with offices in Sunnyvale, Raleigh, Seattle, Boston, London, Lisbon, Bangalore, Dublin, and Kyiv.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in solution architecture, solution engineering, or technical consulting, in pre-sales and/or post-sales.
- Strong foundation in databases, distributed systems, or software engineering.
- Proven experience delivering production-grade solutions in customer-facing environments.
- Experience integrating complex systems across data pipelines, applications, and infrastructure.
- Ability to translate ambiguous requirements into clear technical plans and drive execution.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, including the ability to guide technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to balance technical innovation with pragmatic delivery and realistic scoping.
- Ability to align solutions with product capabilities and roadmap so they are impactful and feasible.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with enterprise customers, particularly in financial services or high-tech environments, is highly preferred.
- Based in the NYC area or within commuting distance.
Responsibilities
- Partner with customers to understand their architecture, use cases, and business goals, and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
- Design and implement end-to-end solutions integrating SingleStore into existing application and data ecosystems.
- Lead whiteboard sessions to shape ideas, define architecture, and turn concepts into technical specifications and execution plans.
- Proactively bring ideas and guide customer conversations.
- Own delivery of high-impact initiatives from concept through production, ensuring successful outcomes.
- Provide hands-on troubleshooting and optimization, and apply pragmatic solutions or fixes when needed.
- Collaborate with Sales, Solutions Engineering, Product, and Engineering to align customer needs with product capabilities and roadmap.
- Help customers prioritize and operationalize data initiatives while balancing ambition with practical delivery.
- Share insights from customer engagements with Product and Engineering to influence the roadmap and product improvements.
