About The Position

SingleStore is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to work at the intersection of solution architecture, technical delivery, and customer partnership. The role combines elements of a solutions architect, technical account manager, and solution engineer, with a strong emphasis on execution. The FDE serves as a trusted technical advisor to customers, helping them design, implement, and scale real-time data solutions using SingleStore. The role involves understanding customers’ business objectives, translating them into technical strategies, and driving solutions into production. It requires technical depth, a delivery mindset, and the ability to lead strategic conversations as well as hands-on execution.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in solution architecture, solution engineering, or technical consulting, in pre-sales and/or post-sales.
  • Strong foundation in databases, distributed systems, or software engineering.
  • Proven experience delivering production-grade solutions in customer-facing environments.
  • Experience integrating complex systems across data pipelines, applications, and infrastructure.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous requirements into clear technical plans and drive execution.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, including the ability to guide technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance technical innovation with pragmatic delivery and realistic scoping.
  • Ability to align solutions with product capabilities and roadmap so they are impactful and feasible.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with enterprise customers, particularly in financial services or high-tech environments.

Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with customers to understand their architecture, use cases, and business goals, and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
  • Design and implement end-to-end solutions that integrate SingleStore into existing application and data ecosystems.
  • Lead whiteboard sessions to shape ideas, define architecture, and convert concepts into technical specifications and execution plans.
  • Act as a proactive thought partner by bringing ideas and guiding conversations rather than only reacting to requirements.
  • Own delivery of high-impact initiatives from concept through production and ensure successful outcomes.
  • Provide hands-on support, including troubleshooting, optimization, and applying pragmatic solutions or fixes when needed.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Solutions Engineering, Product, and Engineering teams to align customer needs with product capabilities and roadmap.
  • Help customers prioritize and operationalize data initiatives while balancing ambition with practical delivery.
  • Feed insights from customer engagements back into Product and Engineering to influence roadmap and improvements.

Benefits

  • The posting describes a total compensation and benefits package but does not specify particular benefits.
  • Certain roles are eligible for merit increases and annual bonuses.
