Forward Deployment Engineer
About The Position
Procore Technologies is hiring a Forward Deployed AI Engineer for its Customer Success Team supporting Procore AI. The role implements, optimizes, and deploys intelligent AI systems and agentic workflows for enterprise clients. Working with customer technical leaders, enterprise project teams, and internal engineering, the engineer operationalizes AI agents in construction settings. The position requires strengths in machine learning systems, customer-facing technical delivery, and end-to-end software engineering. It reports to the Forward Deployed Engineering Manager and is remote within the United States, with travel to customer sites expected up to 50% or more.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience building and shipping solutions with large language models (LLMs), with practical understanding of prompting, tool integration, evaluation, and retrieval.
- Strong foundation in machine learning fundamentals, including evaluation methods, model training and fine-tuning principles, and complex problem decomposition.
- Strong software engineering foundation and a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Machine Learning, or equivalent practical experience.
- Programming proficiency in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, C++, or similar modern stacks.
- Ability to work effectively in diverse customer technical environments and collaborate with customer engineering teams.
- Empathetic, effective communication skills and ability to translate complex AI concepts into actionable business value for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Willingness and ability to travel to client sites up to 50% or more.

- Experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) or Applied AI Engineer.
- Experience as an AI/Machine Learning Solutions Architect.
- Experience as an Enterprise Generative AI Implementation Consultant.
- Experience as a Customer-Facing Machine Learning Systems Engineer.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-impact AI implementation projects independently or in small pods, taking technical ownership from discovery through production deployment.
- Build and scale LLM-powered agentic workflows and production data pipelines tailored to enterprise construction operations.
- Partner with enterprise customers to evaluate operational challenges, understand technical requirements, and define AI implementation strategies.
- Implement real-world solutions that reduce risk and increase efficiency, driving measurable financial and operational value for customers.
- Travel to client sites to lead onsite technical workshops, customer embeds, and field deployments.
