About The Position

As a Senior Forward Deployed AI Engineer, you’ll work directly with enterprise customers on high-impact projects involving Generative AI, LLMs, and modern application development. You’ll help organizations migrate legacy databases, modernize their architecture, and integrate AI-driven functionality into applications. The role offers the opportunity to solve real-world engineering problems and influence MongoDB’s AI strategy and product direction. It is based remotely anywhere in the U.S. or at a MongoDB North America office, including Seattle, Denver, Raleigh, San Francisco, Palo Alto, New York, and DC. Requirements

At least 8 years of software engineering experience.
A proven track record of delivering impactful technical solutions for enterprise clients; experience with Java, SQL, and Python is preferred.
An engineering degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Network Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
In-depth knowledge of AI/ML concepts, tools, and open-source development.
Proficiency in test-driven development methodologies.
Familiarity with monolithic and microservices architectures, including database migration and refactoring.
Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for tackling complex challenges and driving innovation through software development.

Nice To Haves

Experience designing and implementing AI-powered applications is highly preferred.
Academic research experience in parsing, AI/ML, or programming languages.

Responsibilities

Work with enterprise customers to refactor applications, migrate legacy databases, and optimize performance using MongoDB.
Prototype and build AI-powered features using LLMs and Generative AI frameworks to improve software development workflows and application functionality.
Apply modern software engineering practices to accelerate customers’ AI adoption, including implementation of microservices-based architectures, intelligent automation, and AI-enhanced applications.
Share insights from real-world implementations and customer needs to influence MongoDB’s AI and software development roadmap.
Collaborate across engineering, product, and customer teams to create scalable, resilient software solutions.
