Forward Deployed Engineer

About The Position

Foley is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to make its go-to-market engine AI-native. This hands-on growth engineering role supports marketing, product marketing, and sales by turning hypotheses into experiments, building the systems and agents needed to run them, and measuring their effects on pipeline, conversion, or cost. The role is backed by Foley’s AI platform, a governed path to production, and a small team of builders. It is primarily remote within the listed U.S. states, with occasional office visits for collaboration, training, or company events. The engineer will build and operate AI-driven go-to-market systems on Foley’s shared platform and ontology, rather than creating a separate growth stack. The role calls for measurable growth outcomes, independent execution, sound experimentation, and systems that remain reliable and compliant over time. The engineer will participate in marketing, product marketing, and sales meetings, partner with RevOps, data, and engineering builders, and share tools and learnings with colleagues. Foley is a modern SaaS company serving safety-sensitive industries, including transportation, construction, distribution, and utilities. Its platform helps customers hire, remain compliant, and manage risk. Foley describes its core values as Teammateship, Grit, and Innovation.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated measurable growth results using AI and agents, such as pipeline, meetings, conversion, cost per lead or acquisition, or revenue, with the ability to explain how results were measured.
  • Experience designing and running numerous experiments, understanding control groups and sample sizes, and explaining tests that failed.
  • Ability to build hands-on using Python, SQL, APIs, webhooks, LLMs, agents, and Claude Code or similar tools.
  • Hands-on experience with CRM and marketing automation platforms such as Salesforce or HubSpot, as well as enrichment and sequencing tools.
  • Understanding of how B2B demand is created and converted, including effective leads, messaging, and sales plays.
  • Experience contributing to a shared platform, data model, or internal tooling used by other teams.
  • Ability to build trust and work effectively with marketers, product marketers, sales representatives, and sales leaders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience standing up a motion, product, or company from zero.
  • Experience with small-business and self-serve funnels alongside a sales-led motion.
  • Product marketing experience in positioning, launches, competitive intelligence, or win/loss analysis.
  • A current point of view on SEO and generative engine optimization.
  • Experience turning Gong or other call data into signals or content.
  • Experience building evaluations or observability for an AI system.
  • Experience with ontology, knowledge graph, or semantic-layer work modeling accounts, entities, or go-to-market concepts.
  • Experience in transportation, compliance, regtech, or another regulated market.

Responsibilities

  • Turn marketing, product marketing, and sales hypotheses into experiments involving messaging, channels, targeting, offers, pricing pages, and sales plays.
  • Design experiments with controls, preselected metrics, and sufficient volume to assess results; run tests, stop unsuccessful ones, scale successful ones, and maintain a learning log.
  • Build research and enrichment agents that prepare account intelligence for sales representatives.
  • Develop signal and trigger detection for events such as new DOT authority, fleet growth, safety events, and upcoming renewals.
  • Own lead scoring, qualification, and routing so leads are handled by the appropriate person or agent.
  • Run personalized outbound and lifecycle programs at scale and own deliverability.
  • Instrument tracking and attribution to identify what is working.
  • Test positioning and messaging with real buyers and launch campaigns with targeting, pages, and follow-up in place.
  • Translate sales calls, win/loss data, and competitor activity into insights for product marketing.
  • Build content and SEO/GEO tooling to surface Foley’s compliance expertise to prospective buyers.
  • Provide prospect research and account preparation for sales representatives and surface signals indicating who to contact and why.
  • Build tools that reduce sales administration and ensure smaller deals are handled effectively by systems.
  • Build go-to-market agents on Foley’s AI platform and shared ontology, and contribute reusable connectors, skills, and signals.
  • Add go-to-market concepts to the ontology so marketing, sales, customer success, and product describe accounts consistently.
  • Ship systems through Foley’s review and release gates and address consent, PII, and email, SMS, and calling rules from the outset.
  • Build systems designed to remain operational and trusted over time.
  • Participate in marketing, product marketing, and sales meetings; partner with RevOps, the data team, and other builders; and share work with colleagues.
