About The Position

Clarasight is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer within Engineering who will spend most of their time in pre-sales and strategic customer engagements, working closely with Sales and Customer Success. This is a build-and-own role focused on leading technical discovery, architecting and prototyping integrations and AI workflows during live sales cycles, reconciling messy enterprise datasets, and contributing directly to Clarasight’s full-stack production codebase. The role turns customer-specific solutions into scalable product capabilities.

The engineer will own technical relationships from initial discovery through contract close, collaborate with data science to translate ambiguous business problems into working prototypes and clear technical narratives, and build pipelines across fragmented travel, financial, and expense systems. They will apply AI where it creates practical advantage, turn experiments into repeatable workflows, and bring structured customer learnings into Product so successful solutions become part of the platform.

Requirements

• 5–8+ years in software engineering, data engineering, or technical consulting.
• A track record of delivering in ambiguous, high-ownership environments.
• Ability and willingness to contribute directly to production codebases.
• Meaningful experience working with messy enterprise data.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to move fast and prioritize outcomes over credit.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with fintech or enterprise financial systems.
• Demonstrated outcomes applying AI/ML to real operational data.
• Prior experience in a forward-deployed, solutions, or founding-engineer capacity at a startup.
• Exposure to corporate travel, expense, or procurement data.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical relationship from the first discovery call through contract close.
• Collaborate with the data science team to translate ambiguous, high-pressure business problems into working prototypes and clear technical narratives that build trust and accelerate deals.
• Lead technical discovery with prospects and customers.
• Design and build pipelines across fragmented travel, financial, and expense systems.
• Reconcile, validate, and shape messy, low-quality enterprise data into reliable datasets.
• Build durable frameworks rather than temporary workarounds.
• Apply AI to use cases such as enrichment, anomaly detection, forecasting, and automation where it creates practical advantage.
• Turn AI experiments into repeatable, scalable workflows.
• Feed structured learnings directly into Product.
• Turn effective customer-specific solutions into platform capabilities.
• Contribute directly to Clarasight’s full-stack production codebase.
