Forklift Operator - Pallet Services
About The Position
As a Forklift Operator, you will move pallets and other materials through different warehouse areas to support production requirements and load and unload customer trailers. Depending on the location and operational needs, you may also hand-sort pallets and repair damaged wooden pallets. The role is described as vital to the success of the Relogistics site. The position is located at 1110 Military Parkway, Mesquite, TX 75149. The listed starting pay is $19.50 per hour. Multiple schedules are available, including Friday–Monday, Tuesday and Friday–Sunday, Thursday–Sunday, Monday–Thursday, Monday and Friday–Sunday, and Wednesday and Friday–Sunday shifts. Listed shift hours are either 6:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. or 6:00 p.m.–4:30 a.m. The work may involve extreme weather and environmental conditions, repetitive bending, stooping, walking, turning, pivoting, and sitting in a forklift for entire shifts. Noise levels vary by location. Required personal protective equipment includes eye protection and safety shoes; ear protection is mandatory at several locations. The job may require manually lifting pallets weighing 50–75 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Willingness to work in a labor-intensive environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
- Ability to work in extreme conditions, including weather elements, heat, cold, and air particulates.
- Ability to repeatedly bend, stoop, walk, turn, pivot, and sit in a forklift for entire shifts of varying lengths.
- Ability to meet the job's vision requirements, including close, distance, and color vision.
- May be required to lift pallets weighing 50–75 pounds by hand.
- Required personal protective equipment includes eye protection and safety shoes; ear protection is mandatory at several locations.
Nice To Haves
- Forklift certification preferred.
- One to three years of forklift experience preferred, but not required.
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, lumber, carpentry, welding, roofing, and/or construction is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Move sorted pallet stacks to appropriate staging areas using Relogistics forklift equipment.
- Operate forklifts carefully and follow company safety procedures at all times.
- Hand-sort wooden pallets when required.
- Repair wooden pallets using a nail gun when required.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Support production requirements by moving pallets and materials through warehouse areas.
- Load and unload customer trailers.
