This position is responsible for ensuring that product and materials are loaded, unloaded, processed, and transported through the warehouse in a timely and accurate manner using motor-powered forklifts and other powered industrial trucks (PIT), while maintaining a safe work environment and following Tyson policies and procedures. New hires begin as case pickers and, after a probationary period, are cross-trained for other warehouse tasks. Team members will be retrained and certified on forklifts during orientation. The work may include receiving product, putting received product into storage racks, replenishing pick faces, picking cases or full pallets to fill customer orders, and loading trucks while preventing product damage or loss. A handheld scanner is used to track products as they are loaded, unloaded, and moved. Other duties may be assigned as part of the routine. Work takes place mostly while driving PIT, including stand-up forklifts and reach trucks, for extended periods in damp, cold storage environments ranging from -5 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit. Shifts may last up to 12 hours. Tyson provides PPE such as a freezer suit, hearing protection, gloves, and headwear. Team members must supply qualifying steel- or composite-toe boots; Tyson will purchase a pair after 30 days or reimburse up to a specified amount. The posting lists A, B, and D shift schedules and a rate of $18.35 per hour.
