About The Position

Sunrun is hiring a Foreperson to lead a solar and battery installation crew of 3–6 members in the Chicago, Illinois area, including Des Plaines, Bolingbrook, and East Peoria. The role is intended for experienced solar leaders and offers relocation assistance to qualified candidates outside the Chicago area. A $3,000 sign-on bonus is advertised, subject to eligibility and program availability. The Foreperson manages construction workflow, crew development, project documentation, and customer relations, and may perform service calls or act as supervisor or manager when needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of construction experience, including one year in solar installation.
• Experience with electrical work involving wiring up to 600 VDC and 480 VAC.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable codes and standards.
• Understanding of relevant OSHA standards.
• CPR and first aid certifications.
• Computer skills with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Strong mechanical and construction abilities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and people-management skills.
• Ability to meet the physical demands described in the posting, including lifting and transporting materials, working on rooftops and at heights, climbing ladders, working outdoors and in confined spaces, and using personal protective equipment.
• Ability to distinguish red, black, yellow, white, and green.
• Ability to work with chemicals using appropriate protections.
• Ability to travel 5%.

Responsibilities

• Organize, lead, and train crew members.

• Analyze and resolve worker problems and recommend solutions.
• Maintain consistent customer relations throughout installation.
• Provide feedback to management.
• Perform service calls when necessary.
• May serve as acting supervisor or manager in the absence of a supervisor or manager.
• Perform all duties of an Installer and Lead Installer.
