Requirements

  • Three years as a Forensic Registered Nurse (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Four years of professional nursing experience providing care, treatment, custody, and control of psychiatric patients.
  • Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania. If you possess an active temporary practice permit, you must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.
  • Satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Guide, evaluate, and support nursing personnel to ensure safe and effective patient care
  • Monitor clinical practices and help resolve safety or treatment concerns across patient care areas
  • Provide orientation, coaching, and ongoing education to nursing and forensic staff
  • Share essential information with staff through meetings, reports, and daily interactions
  • Respond promptly to psychiatric emergencies to reduce the need for restraint or seclusion
  • Participate in facility committees and improvement activities to strengthen patient care services
