Central State Hospital is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Forensic Psychologist. This role operates within Georgia's maximum secure forensic hospital, serving individuals referred by the criminal justice system for pre-trial psychiatric evaluation and/or inpatient treatment, those found not guilty by reason of insanity, those mentally incompetent to stand trial, and those admitted on hold orders from jails for psychiatric evaluation, treatment, and stabilization. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a hospital forensic director and will be responsible for completing criminal forensic evaluations. This position requires knowledge of abnormal psychology, pertinent statutes and case law, malingering assessment tools, intellectual and personality testing, best practices in mental health treatment, and ethical/professional guidelines for forensic psychology. The role involves participation in recovery planning teams, facilitation of group treatment, development of individualized treatment plans, documentation of progress, face-to-face forensic mental health evaluations, report preparation, expert testimony, behavioral programming, and clinical supervision of mental health counselors. Completion of the state's Competency to Stand Trial Certification process within one year of hire is required for continued employment.
