About The Position

This position assists higher-level personnel in preparing and serving food and maintaining a clean work area. Work is reviewed for adherence to sanitary standards and completion of assignments. The role supports food tray preparation, delivery, and removal, as well as kitchen cleaning and sanitation. It also helps ensure tray accuracy, adherence to special diets, customer service, timely food handling, and compliance with applicable health and safety standards.

• No licensure or certification required.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with removal of dirty food trays from nursing units.
• Assist with early and late food tray deliveries in a timely manner.
• Assist with tray preparation and/or delivery, ensuring tray accuracy, adherence to special diets, and customer service.
• Assist with tray preparation during meal service hours.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, work areas, and the dish room; wash dishes by hand or machine.
• Deliver food trays or nourishments to patient rooms or nursing units.
• Maintain compliance with JCAHO, State Health Department, and OSHA requirements for ongoing job training and health standards.
• Transfer food in the kitchen and on patient trays in a timely manner and follow proper protocols, including wearing a hair restraint and gloves and covering food to prevent contamination.
