About The Position

The Food Services Associate assists higher-level personnel with preparing and serving food and maintaining a clean work area. Work is reviewed for adherence to sanitary standards and completion of assignments. The position is employed by NC Health (Rex Healthcare, Inc., d/b/a NC Health), a private, fully owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System, and is not a State-employed position. The work is onsite at Rex Apex Conv Care Dietary in Apex, North Carolina, with a variable schedule and 40 standard hours per week.

Requirements

• No education required, provided other position qualifications are met.
• No prior experience required.
• No licensure or certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with removing dirty food trays from nursing units.
• Assist with early and late food tray deliveries in a timely manner.
• Assist with tray preparation and/or delivery, ensuring tray accuracy, adherence to special diets, and customer service.
• Assist with tray preparation during meal service hours.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, work areas, and the dish room; wash dishes by hand or machine.
• Deliver food trays or nourishments to patient rooms or nursing units.
• Maintain compliance with JCAHO, State Health Department, and OSHA requirements for ongoing job training and health standards.
• Transfer food in the kitchen and on patient trays in a timely manner and according to proper protocols, including wearing a hair restraint and gloves and covering food to prevent contamination.
