About The Position

The Food Service Worker prepares, presents, and serves food as needed at Kirkwood High School in Saint Louis, Missouri. The role includes preparing ingredients, handling and storing food safely, cleaning work areas and equipment, serving customers, and following recipes, production standards, sanitation requirements, and inventory and cash control procedures. The position is part time, scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Prior kitchen experience is required. The posting notes no nights, weekends, or holidays, and summers off; however, work may decline or cease during school breaks, when time away may be unpaid and considered a temporary layoff. Depending on business needs, year-round work, potentially at another location during breaks, may be required.

Requirements

• Prior kitchen experience is required.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare fruits and vegetables by washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding them.
• Weigh and measure designated ingredients.
• Carry food pans, kettles, and trays between work stations, stoves, and refrigerators in accordance with safety standards.
• Store food in designated areas using wrapping, dating, food safety, and rotation procedures.
• Clean work areas, equipment, and utensils.
• Distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment.
• Follow approved food recipes and production standards to maintain quality, serving temperatures, and portion control.
• Serve customers in a friendly and efficient manner according to established service steps.
• Resolve customer concerns and relay relevant information to a supervisor.
• Follow company service standards and inventory and cash control procedures.
• Comply with sanitation and safety requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
