About The Position

The Food Service Worker performs a variety of food preparation, food service, health, and cleanliness duties at Spaulding Nursing and Therapy Center Brighton, Inc. The role supports cooks with meal preparation and plating, prepares simple items such as salads and desserts, serves customers, and maintains clean dining and kitchen areas while following food safety and sanitation standards. This position does not require patient care.

Requirements

Some high school completed.
0–1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities of the role.
Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and services ordering and inventory control.
Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
Ability to read and write.
Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.
Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
Knowledge of food service line setup and temperature requirements.
Skill in cooking and preparing a variety of foods.
Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards.

Responsibilities

Assist cooks with preparing meals and plating food as requested by the chef or another supervising employee.
Prepare simple meals such as salads or desserts.
Support daily food preparation by cutting, peeling, or slicing ingredients as needed.
Greet customers, take orders, remember special requests, and deliver food in a timely manner.
Provide positive customer service, address complaints promptly, answer questions, and make meal suggestions when asked.
Clean the restaurant and dining area by removing trash, clearing and washing plates and dishes, and wiping down tables.
Follow food safety standards and ensure food is free from contaminants and pathogens that could make customers sick.
Clean pots, pans, and other kitchen dishes while following safety and sanitation standards.
