About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Food Service Supervisor, the Food Service Worker II promotes meal assistance to patients and residents on a daily basis. The role assists with meal selections and with assembling and delivering meals and food products for hospital patients, residents, and visitors. This is a per-diem position with a variable shift.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred; high school students are accepted.
• Requires prolonged standing, walking, or other constant physical movements on a routine basis.
• Must work around typical kitchen hazards, including sharp utensils and cutting machines, hot items such as water, steam, ovens, and burners, and chemicals used for cleaning and sanitizing.
• Work involves varied stress levels due to periodic or cyclic workload pressure.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe food handling practices using clean-as-you-go procedures.
• Assist patients with needs related to their trays, such as opening products.
• Serve patients accurately in accordance with their diet prescriptions.
• Communicate patient concerns to the clinical dietitian.
• Stock unit kitchens.
• Perform other duties as required.
