Food Service Worker II - Per Diem - Variable
About The Position
Under the direct supervision of the Food Service Supervisor, the Food Service Worker II promotes meal assistance to patients and residents. The role assists with meal selections and the assembly and delivery of meals and food products for hospital patients, residents, and visitors. Work involves kitchen hazards, including sharp utensils and cutting machines, hot water, steam, ovens and burners, and cleaning and sanitizing chemicals. The position requires prolonged standing, walking, or other constant physical movement and may involve varying stress levels due to periodic or cyclic workload pressure. This is a per-diem, occasional position with variable shifts, 7.5 hours per shift, and an FTE of 0.2. Pay is $16–$22 per hour.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is preferred; high school students are accepted.
- Ability to perform prolonged standing, walking, or other constant physical movements on a routine basis.
- Ability to work around typical kitchen hazards, including sharp utensils, cutting machines, hot water, steam, ovens, burners, and cleaning and sanitizing chemicals.
Responsibilities
- Maintain safe food handling using clean-as-you-go procedures.
- Assist patients with needs related to their trays, such as opening products.
- Serve patients accurately in accordance with their diet prescriptions.
- Communicate patient concerns to the clinical dietitian.
- Stock unit kitchens.
- Perform other duties as required.
