About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Food Service Supervisor, the Food Service Worker II promotes meal assistance to patients and residents daily. The role assists with meal selections and with assembling and delivering meals and food products for hospital patients, residents, and visitors.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is preferred; high school students are accepted.
• Requires prolonged standing, walking, or other constant physical movements on a routine basis.
• Varied stress levels due to periodic or cyclic workload pressure.
• Work involves typical kitchen hazards, including sharp utensils and cutting machines, hot items such as water, steam, ovens, and burners, and cleaning and sanitizing chemicals.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe food handling using clean-as-you-go procedures.
• Assist patients with needs related to their trays, such as opening products.
• Accurately serve patients in accordance with their diet prescriptions.
• Communicate patients’ concerns to the clinical dietitian.
• Stock unit kitchens.
• Perform other duties as required.
