About The Position

The Statler Hotel’s Food Service Worker team serves high-quality food quickly and safely according to restaurant standards while providing exceptional guest service. Team members are assigned to stations according to business needs for the day, week, or semester, so flexibility in work assignments is necessary. Schedules vary with business demand and may include days, nights, weekends, holidays, and special events, with changes possible on short notice. Team members are expected to support a culture of belonging and a psychologically healthy work environment by communicating across differences, collaborating, showing respect and empathy, supporting others regardless of background or perspective, addressing exclusion or inappropriate treatment, and supporting work/life integration.

Requirements

Experience in or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
One year of related food service experience.
Working knowledge of food preparation and presentation.
Good customer service skills.
Ability to stand for long periods.
Ability to lift 25 pounds regularly.
Must maintain an up-to-date food handlers safety certification.
Ability to learn to operate food preparation equipment, including fryers, choppers, slicers, mixers, ovens, steamers, and hand tools including knives.
Knowledge of allergens and ability to serve a guest with a known allergy.
Ability to work a variable schedule that may include days, nights, weekends, holidays, and special events, with changes possible on short notice.
