About The Position

James Madison University's University Health Center provides comprehensive health care services and health education programs to students, including medical clinics, a pharmacy, a medical laboratory, and other programs serving more than 30,000 patient encounters annually. The center practices evidence-based medicine in a confidential, inclusive environment.

The Licensed Practical Nurse maintains nursing skills by providing direct patient care in the clinic, including acute care services across multiple clinics under Health Center policies and standing orders. This is a full-time, nine-month classified staff position in the Health and Wellbeing College/Division's Student Health Services department. Employment is contingent on successfully completing a criminal background check.

Requirements

• Hold a current Virginia Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
• Demonstrated experience in acute care nursing.
• Experience with phlebotomy, point-of-care laboratory testing, and EKG administration.
• Experience administering immunizations and specialty medications.
• Ability to accurately document patient care and maintain clinical records.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the clinic, including acute care services across multiple clinics, following Health Center policies and standing orders.
• Perform triage, phlebotomy and IVs, ear irrigations, splinting, and wound care.
• Provide other clinical services as needed.
