Food Service Worker I
About The Position
Under general supervision of the Food Service Director or designee, the Food Service Worker I performs daily food service activities, assists in preparing school meals, and serves meals to students and site staff. The role also performs routine cleaning tasks in a school cafeteria, cooking kitchen, or production kitchen, and other related work as required. This is the entry-level position in the food service class and is typically part-time. The position works 3.5 hours per day, five days per week, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for 9.5 work months. The hourly salary range is $20.85 to $25.33.
Requirements
- Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including standing for extended periods; operating kitchen tools, utensils, and equipment with repetitive hand movements; inspecting written materials; moving around the kitchen, cafeteria, and school site; moving, lifting, pushing, or carrying objects weighing up to 31 pounds; some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching; reaching, handling, touching, or feeling; and operating a telephone and entering data into a computer.
- Upon conditional offer of employment, complete a Department of Justice criminal background check.
- Upon conditional offer of employment, provide a TB test from within the past 60 days.
- Upon conditional offer of employment, complete district-mandated training, including Mandated Reporter and Sexual Harassment training.
- Obtain and maintain an in-person First Aid/CPR certificate.
- Complete a pre-employment physical evaluation conducted through the District.
Nice To Haves
- Commercial food service experience is preferred.
- Serve Safe certification is preferred.
