About The Position

The Food Service Worker performs a variety of food service functions at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, including setting up service areas with food, utensils, and garnishes; portioning and serving food; operating a cash register; assembling patient trays; and assisting with customer requests. Some locations may also require food preparation. The role supports patient, visitor, and employee needs by providing friendly customer service and following food safety, portion, diet-order, and meal-assembly protocols. The position is in the Plaza West Tower and requires flexibility to help where needed, work both AM and PM shifts, and rotate weekends and holidays.

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Provide professional and friendly customer service while following food safety and portion guidelines.
• Assemble meals according to the menu, diet order, and correct protocol.
• Set up and organize the work area, supplies, and products before, during, and after the shift.
• Clean and sanitize the work station and utensils.
• Use equipment and materials properly and safely.
• Perform food service functions such as setting up service areas, portioning and serving food, operating a cash register, assembling patient trays, and responding to customer requests.
• Perform food preparation at some locations.
