About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Food Service Director or designee, the Food Service Worker I performs daily food service activities, assists in preparing school meals, and serves meals to students and site staff. The position also performs routine cleaning tasks in a school cafeteria, cooking kitchen, or production kitchen, along with related work as required.

This is the entry-level position in the food service class and is typically part-time. The schedule is 9.5 work months, 5 days per week, for either 3.5 or 4.0 hours per day. Clock hours are either 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The hourly salary range is $20.85 to $25.33.

Requirements

• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
• Must obtain and maintain a First Aid/CPR Certificate through in-person training.
• Complete the district's required training, including Mandated Reporter and Sexual Harassment training.
• Complete a Department of Justice criminal background check upon conditional offer of employment.
• Complete a TB test within the past 60 days upon conditional offer of employment.
• Complete a pre-employment physical evaluation conducted through the District; minimum lifting requirement is 31 pounds.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods; operate kitchen tools, utensils, and equipment with repetitive hand movements; inspect written materials; move about the kitchen, cafeteria, and school site; move, lift, push, or carry objects weighing up to 31 pounds; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, handle, touch, or feel; and use manual dexterity to operate a telephone and enter data into a computer.

Nice To Haves

• Commercial food service experience is preferred.
• Serve Safe certification is preferred.
