About The Position

The Food Service Worker I - Porter/Dishwasher performs a variety of food service functions, including setting up service areas with food, utensils, and garnishments; portioning and serving food; maintaining sanitation; operating a cash register; assembling patient trays; and responding to customer requests. The position may also perform food preparation at some locations. The role is based at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Plaza Tower West and is part-time at 20 hours per week. Employees must be able to work AM and PM shifts and rotating weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

Provide professional and friendly customer service while following food safety and portion guidelines.
Assemble meals according to the menu, diet order, and correct protocol.
Set up the work area and organize supplies and products before, during, and after the shift.
Clean and sanitize the workstation and utensils.
Use equipment and materials properly and safely.
Perform food service functions such as setting up service areas, portioning and serving food, operating a cash register, assembling patient trays, and assisting with customer requests.
Perform food preparation at some locations.
