About The Position

The Driver/Food Service Worker provides delivery and transportation services over specific routes and performs duties for the facilities and Food Service Department. The role requires normal physical effort, as well as some moderate and heavy lifting. This is a part-time position scheduled for 25 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The position reports to the Food Service Manager.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Valid New York State driver's license that meets Salvation Army insurance requirements.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Frequent internal contacts and frequent external contact with community representatives, visitors, and vendors, requiring considerable tact and courtesy.
L2 Certification; it can be obtained after hire.

Responsibilities

Inspect and clean the box truck at least once per week; keep it clean and maintained according to its maintenance schedule, and refuel it after trips as needed.
Provide safe and timely transportation and delivery of food, perishable products, goods, documents, or mail.
Load and unload food and perishable products.
Unlock and lock buildings as needed and ensure they are secured when entering or leaving (Northwest Corps only).
Perform miscellaneous custodial and maintenance duties as needed, including cleaning the kitchen, equipment, parking lots, sidewalks, bathrooms, and interior and exterior windows; operating a floor polisher or buffer; and replenishing custodial supplies.
Receive and maintain warehouse inventory.
Shovel and salt sidewalks and entryways as needed, following the winter schedule from the Facilities Manager.
Take out trash and recyclable materials as needed.
Assist with set-ups and take-downs for Salvation Army events.
Perform other duties as assigned; duties and responsibilities may change with or without notice due to business needs.
