About The Position

The Food Service Supervisor oversees inmate labor and team members who assist with food service operations in a correctional facility. The role prepares and serves a variety of food items according to work instructions and menus, using food preparation utensils and machines. The position reports to a Food Service Director and is performed onsite inside a jail or correctional facility. Open availability is required between 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., including some weekends and holidays.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Open availability between 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., including some weekends and holidays.
Ability to lift, bend, push, kneel, walk, and stand for extended periods, including being on one’s feet for much of the scheduled shift.
Food handling regulations knowledge is identified as a desired capability.

Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience.

Responsibilities

Manage inmate labor and team members in the kitchen during food preparation and food service shifts.
Serve food during planned meal schedules and according to department procedures.
Use kitchen utensils and equipment to cook food according to recipes.
Use appropriate utensils to serve menu portions that meet clients’ nutritional needs.
Train other food service workers.
Promote a healthy and safe work environment for employees and inmates.
Perform other responsibilities as determined by business needs.
