About The Position
The Food Service Assistant joins the Food & Nutrition team at Johnson Memorial Medical Center, part of Trinity Health Of New England. Reporting to the Food Service Supervisor, the position is assigned duties according to daily needs, such as dish room work, hot food service, running, or beverage service. The role performs food service duties in the kitchen, cafeteria, and patient-care areas, maintains safe and sanitary work and storage areas, and helps ensure food service needs are met. The schedule is per diem on a rotating shift.
Requirements
- Ability to read, write, and speak English and understand written and oral instructions.
- Ability to comply with Trinity Health policies and procedures.
- Willingness and ability to wear personal protective equipment, including gloves, hair nets/masks, slip-resistant shoes, and eye protection.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- A minimum of six months of food service industry experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assume a variety of patient tray-line positions, including caller, dairy, toast, hot food, soup, salad/dessert, and beverage positions.
- Work in the dish room, strip returned patient trays, and load and unload the dish machine.
- Assemble and deliver food supplies to patient food pantries on floors.
- Deliver meal trays to patient rooms and retrieve trays after meals.
- Deliver special nourishment items to floors and celebration meals as assigned.
- Clean work areas and maintain them in a safe, sanitary manner.
- Ensure prepared products meet department quality standards.
- Maintain productivity to meet food service needs.
- Follow safe food-handling procedures to maintain food wholesomeness.
