About The Position

The Food Service Assistant supports patients and customers through dining room coverage, diet coordination, room service, dishwashing, and preparation of catering meals, patient trays, complimentary carts, and other food items. The role is based on-site at Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital in Grand Rapids and is scheduled for 40–64 hours per pay period, with days, evenings, and an every-other-weekend rotation.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Good customer service skills.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to follow and adhere to Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital policies, vision, mission, and values.
Reliable and consistent attendance.

Nice To Haves

Previous work in food service preparation and dishwashing.

Responsibilities

Coordinate menus and room service orders, using EPIC to log in and verify diet orders and changes.
Answer phones in response to customer and patient needs.
Assist with preparing and delivering patient trays, cafeteria food items, and catering.
Serve cafeteria customers, accurately process payments using the cash register, and count and calculate daily cafeteria receipts.
Put away and rotate stock delivered by food trucks promptly.
Stock and rotate cafeteria items and medical floor stock, and maintain cleanliness in the cafeteria, dining room, and kitchen.
Strip, wash, and sanitize dishes and utensils according to department standards and regulations.
Perform routine tasks using customer service skills and show consideration for patients and other personnel in service areas.
Perform other duties assigned by the manager.
