About The Position

Exalt Health is an acute rehabilitation hospital serving patients with complex rehabilitation needs. The Food Service Aide works with culinary staff as part of the patient care team to provide nourishing meals that support patients’ recovery. The role assists the cook with meal preparation, plating, delivery, and cleanup while maintaining a safe and sanitary environment. It also involves direct interaction with patients, staff, and visitors to provide courteous service and accommodate patients’ dietary needs and preferences.

Requirements

• Hold a current Food Handler’s Certification recognized in Texas, Arizona, or Florida.
• Organize and prioritize tasks and complete responsibilities accurately within specified time constraints.
• Demonstrate attention to detail, accuracy, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Work under deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
• Communicate effectively in spoken and written English and write legibly.
• Read and comprehend information at the level necessary to perform job duties.
• Work cooperatively with coworkers and other hospital employees.
• Have the physical stamina to stand, bend, and lift.
• Demonstrate time-management and organizational skills, basic food-preparation skills, knowledge of food safety and sanitation, and customer-service and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Prior food-service experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist the cook in preparing meals according to standardized recipes and menus, with proper portions and adherence to dietary restrictions.
• Assemble patient meal trays accurately according to dietary guidelines and deliver meals promptly and courteously.
• Serve food to staff and visitors in the cafeteria and keep the serving area clean and organized.
• Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment according to sanitation procedures; maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Communicate with patients professionally and courteously, responding to questions or concerns about their meals.
• Follow HIPAA regulations and protect patient health information and confidentiality.
• Assist with food deliveries, stock supplies, and perform other tasks assigned by the Food Service Manager.
