About The Position

The Food Server provides efficient, courteous, personable, and professional food service to create a positive guest dining experience. The role accurately processes guest orders and ensures items are prepared properly and served in a timely manner. The server communicates with guests and hotel colleagues, maintains food safety and cleanliness standards, and provides personalized service.

Requirements

• Current food handling licenses or permits, maintained throughout employment.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of guest-service principles, values, and processes.
• Knowledge of basic math.
• Ability to operate a cash register.
• Ability to project a professional, friendly, and courteous image to guests.
• Ability to multitask and be detail-oriented.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and greet guests warmly.
• Inform guests of specials and menu changes, make suggestions, and answer questions about food, beverages, and service.
• Process guest orders and ensure items are prepared properly and in a timely manner.
• Communicate with hosts or hostesses, bus persons, and kitchen staff to support guest satisfaction.
• Observe diners to ensure they are satisfied and respond to additional requests.
• Clear and reset tables at the end of each course or when a meal is complete.
• Prepare guest checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales tax.
• Follow food safety and handling procedures and applicable hotel, federal, state, and local requirements.
• Follow hotel safety and security policies and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
• Maintain quality, service, and cleanliness standards in the restaurant and service area, and keep the workspace and uniform neat and clean.
• Provide guests with the best possible experience through superior personalized service.
• Serve as a cashier when needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
