About The Position

Assists server to provide a better experience to serve the guests. Deliver the food to the tables. This role is critical to maintaining the luxury standard and reputation of The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa while upholding the highest levels of discretion and professionalism.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one-year previous experience required.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Ability to perform daily work at a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to take direction well.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional appearance and behavior.
  • Interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Must wear clean and pressed uniform with name tag.
  • Must have a TABC certificate and Food Handlers Certification.
  • Must be able to meet the following minimum physical requirements for at least an eight-hour shift: Physical Stamina: Frequent standing, walking, climbing of ladders and stairs, kneeling, reaching overhead, lifting and carrying various objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to perform all activities in a professional manner.
  • Must be able to see and read printed matter with or without vision aids.
  • Hearing / Speech: Must be able to effectively engage in one-on-one communication with guests, members, and customers and use a 2-way radio to communicate clearly and accurately with co-workers.
  • Vision: Must be able to accurately read instructions, reports, and log sheets. Must be able to work with computers and PDAs in varying light conditions.
  • Literacy: Must be able to analyze and process written information from a variety of sources and effectively communicate content of reports.
  • Chemicals/Agents: Must be able to work safely with chemicals according to SDS sheets and all applicable laws, codes and regulatory requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • High school education is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Expedite and deliver food to the guest's table correctly.
  • Assist bussers to serve guests and help them complete their side work.
  • Maintain the kitchen line stocked with proper supplies (plates, napkin folds for under liner, trays).
  • Set up the bread station (am with toaster).
  • Set up tables for each shift.
  • Clean and reset tables in a timely manner in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ensure all operating supplies are stocked (china, glass, silverware, linen etc.).
  • Continuously replenish non-alcoholic beverages and bread presentation at the table and maintain table services.
  • Keep guest tables clean by removing used/unwanted items.
  • Maintain continuous presence in the dining room.
  • Bring linen from the laundry to serve the guest and restock for the next shift.
  • Keep the service area clean as well as the cappuccino machine.
  • Other duties as assigned.
