About The Position
The Minnesota Star Tribune is seeking dynamic leaders passionate about journalism and democracy to help shape the future of this innovative modern media organization. This 10-week summer reporting internship is designed for talented, driven college juniors, seniors, and graduate students who can write enterprise stories and daily news, focusing on arts & entertainment and restaurants & food. The program aims to provide interns with invaluable experience in a major-market newsroom, developing their skills from proficient writers to polished journalists. Requirements
- Talented, driven college juniors, seniors, and graduate students
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Flexibility and the ability to handle deadline pressure
- Must be currently legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for employment visa status
- Have a valid driver’s license
Nice To Haves
- Proficiency with web research tools
- Proficiency with InCopy or similar publishing software
Responsibilities
- Develop their own story ideas
- Run hard at the assignments given
- Work closely with editors, photographers, and other reporters to provide substantive news stories
- Be highly proficient writers
- Conduct themselves in a professional manner
- Work regularly from the Star Tribune office
