About The Position

Stovepipe Wells, located in Death Valley National Park, is seeking a Food and Beverage Manager to lead its F&B program. This role involves overseeing all aspects of the food and beverage operations, including menu preparation, staff management, cost control, and ensuring quality and safety standards are met. The manager will work closely with and support both front- and back-of-house staff, acting as a working manager to ensure smooth operations and exceptional guest satisfaction. This is an on-site position with provided housing, requiring a flexible schedule to accommodate the 24/7 nature of the business.

Requirements

  • Ability to work and thrive in Death Valley National Park.
  • Ability to lead F&B requirements and compliance with concession contract.
  • Communication skills to lead, train, and oversee food and beverage teams.
  • Experience overseeing kitchen, restaurant, and bar environments.
  • Ability to establish successful working relationships with co-workers, Forest Service, and the public.
  • Good professional judgment, honesty, and integrity in decision making.
  • Ability to interact with the public and stakeholders in a professional manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Minimum 10 years working in a food & beverage management position.
  • Current certification for CA Food Handlers Certification, ServSafe, and TIPs.
  • High school diploma required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare menus and lead the F&B program.
  • Manage labor, payroll, and food costs to meet annual budgetary goals.
  • Oversee kitchen staff and ensure the quality of food items.
  • Lead recruitment, hiring, training, and development of all front- and back-of-house staff.
  • Act as a working manager, assisting with food preparation, kitchen line, service, bar, and other operational duties.
  • Lead, instruct, coach, incentivize, and evaluate teams of servers, bartenders, and kitchen staff to prioritize guest satisfaction.
  • Respond to improvements and trends from guest satisfaction comment cards.
  • Organize F&B storerooms, supplies, refrigerated and frozen items according to ServSafe and Food Handler Safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health and safety requirements.
  • Monitor and ensure all required NPS scans are completed accurately and submitted on time.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain structured training programs for all Food & Beverage staff.
  • Create, implement, and enforce detailed shift-specific checklists for kitchen, service, and bar teams.
  • Conduct and oversee monthly inventory of all food, beverage, and operational supplies.
  • Oversee POS payments, order accuracy, and accountability, including cash handling.
  • Adhere to all ESQ procedures and maintain a safety-first attitude.
  • Minimize environmental impact.
  • Treat customers and coworkers with respect and project a hospitable service atmosphere.
