Flow Inventory Associate
About The Position
As a Flow Inventory Associate, you’ll help maintain CarMax’s vehicle inventory and customer experience in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. The role handles vehicle receiving and shipping, lot maintenance, merchandising, and photo uploads, ensuring cars meet CarMax quality standards. Duties also include maintaining accurate inventory records, preparing vehicles for customer returns and loaners, and driving vehicles for repairs, storage, and auction support. The associate follows CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety requirements and maintains a clean, orderly work area.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet CarMax driving standards.
- Ability to read, interpret, and accurately transcribe data for inventory records.
- Completion of Inventory Associate workstation certifications and assigned trainings.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs and work in indoor and outdoor environments.
- Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.

Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate inventory by following CarMax inventory processes.
- Receive and secure vehicles shipped to CarMax and prepare title packets for transfers.
- Perform lot maintenance and merchandising, keeping display areas clean and organized.
- Prepare vehicles for customer returns and loaners, including washing and vacuuming.
- Complete the photo station process for carmax.com listings.
- Drive vehicles on and off the lot for repairs, storage, and auction support.
- Follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Benefits
- Paid sick time for eligible full-time hourly or commission/incentive-eligible associates, accrued per pay period up to 48 hours per year.
- Vacation time for eligible full-time hourly or commission/incentive-eligible associates, ranging from 80 to 200 hours per year after a 90-day waiting period, depending on years of continuous service.
- Paid scheduled holidays: 8 hours of pay for each of six scheduled holidays per year, plus one floating holiday.
- Holiday Premium Pay for eligible associates who work on a scheduled holiday due to business need.
- Paid time away for full-time salaried associates, with no specified limit for sick time, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, and floating holidays, subject to manager approval.
