About The Position

The Floral Clerk supports Hy-Vee customers by helping them place floral orders, preparing beginning-level floral designs, replenishing products, and maintaining an attractive, clean department. The role includes providing friendly service in person and over the phone, handling floral and computer orders confidentially, and assisting with deliveries and department operations. Training is provided; extensive prior experience is not required.

Less than a high school diploma or equivalent experience is accepted.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen is required.
Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift and perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending.

Nice To Haves

Six months of similar or related work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers and assist with floral orders in person and by phone, completing required paperwork.
Prepare, finish, and replenish small floral and greenery arrangements, corsages, boutonnieres, roses, carnations, balloon bouquets, bows, and other floral items.
Send and retrieve FTD, Teleflora, and computer orders while maintaining confidentiality of order information.
Check floral products for freshness and anticipate the department’s daily product needs.
Water plants and maintain the appearance and cleanliness of the department, including coolers, counters, floors, and sinks.
Prepare the daily delivery list and deliver orders as needed.
Unload trucks, store and check in products, put products away, and process invoices as needed.
Operate the department register, receive payments, and make change as applicable.
Remove trash promptly and assist with general department upkeep.
Answer phone calls promptly and provide friendly, helpful customer service.
Follow the dress code, hygiene standards, and department and company guidelines.
Assist with other tasks and special projects as needed.
