About The Position

As the Fiscal Technician 2, under general supervision, you perform ongoing, routine, and repetitive fiscal tasks within both manual and automated payroll systems. You compile and compute payroll data from a variety of source documents such as Time Reports, Personnel Action Forms, withholding forms, and more. You prepare, review, verify, and process payroll documents under tight deadlines to support a semi-monthly payroll cycle. You communicate clearly and professionally to request information or resolve discrepancies. You pay close attention to detail, work accurately with numbers, contribute as a collaborative member of a team, and you are able to work mandatory overtime when required.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • One year of general clerical or fiscal experience, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and work accurately with numbers.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work additional hours or overtime including possible nights, weekends and/or holidays to meet deadlines during peak workload situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with WSU mainframe accounting systems.
  • Clerical experience in higher education.
